Stanley Ray Mortimer
Oct 25, 2018He was born Aug. 11, 1952, in Mount Vernon.Stan was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a business owner, a veteran and a patriot. He loved his family and was proud of all of them. Last year he had retired to South Carolina after spending over 30 years in the automobile repair service. He loved going boating, hunting, golfing, riding his Harley motorcycle and fishing. Stan never knew a stranger no matter whether he was fixing someone’s car, riding his motorcycle across country or meeting a veteran at a local event.Stan proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Knox County Veteran Services.He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Maggie (Williams); sons, Corey Mortimer (Kimberly), Jonas (Hershberger), Ricky Shirmer; daughters, Summer (Mortimer) Chalfan (Mike) and Rebecca Needham-Mortimer; sisters, Rebecca (Creamer), Susie (Braddock), Connie (Lee); mother, Naomi (Tharp); step-father, Floyd (Tharp); step-mother, Karen (Mortimer); grandchildren, Michaela, Dylan, Zechariah, William, Josiah, Stanley, Sebrina, Susan, Ashley and RJ; great-grandchildren, Jace, Jayden; and lots of extended family/friends in Ohio and South Carolina.Stan was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Mortimer.Friends may call Sunday from 1-4 p.m., at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown, 33 E. College Street, Fredericktown, OH 43019.
